world building
the only way to do pre-development
World Building is an interdisciplinary design research practice that creates richly detailed, holistic environments (storyworlds), allowing narratives to emerge organically from the world's deep structure, integrating technology, art, and storytelling to envision future possibilities and solve real-world problems. It's a system for developing coherent, imagined worlds with history, culture, and logic, moving beyond traditional design to generate emergent narratives and immersive experiences across media. World building is a collaborative practice of imagining, designing, and testing coherent future environments—social, cultural, economic, and technological—so members of a community can experience and reason about change before it happens. Trust building, shared context and meaning is co-created, allowing diverse stakeholders to align, make better decisions, and shape resilient futures together. The process results in scenarios, stories, personas, artifacts from the future- accessible through various media and communication formats (AR,VR, Immersive Experiences, videos etc.) allowing residents, leaders, potential investors to navigate the new future being imagined and the insights and assets needed to move from current state to a preferred state.
