Eleven years ago when I was building
Creative Disturbance, one of the first social networks for artists, designers and inventors I published
a paper with Vibeke Sorenson on "Sensual Media."
Sensual Media is a means of interacting with information through the use of and interconnection between many senses, the extension of the human body across time and space, and the new communication structures and processes that arise from the use of digital technology.
It was a heady time in San Francisco pre-dot.com when EVERYTHING was being re-imagined in terms of digital media. The reality is that the bandwidth necessary to do those things just wasn't there. BUT NOW IT IS! This kind of "full body engagement" is really still just taking off as noted in an earlier post
here.
This is leading me to reexamine my notes and writings from this time... which you will no doubt be seeing here.
