
After 2 years of spreading the message on the ground in Washington DC finally a breakthrough. The
SBA announces the creation of a $1 billion "Impact Investing Fund." Although not equity and although the details have not yet been released, it is a strong indication that the different parts of the Obama administration are starting to incorporate the work we and others are doing to support the development of the "impact investing" marketplace. Certainly at the core of what is happening NOW is the belief that social entrepreneurship is proving to be a key driver addressing the problems we find in underserved communities and environmental issues and in creating the efficiencies and innovations necessary to tackle the problems that we face.
